My name is Vincent Summers, and I am a retired chemist. I attended Drexel University, though I pursued many graduate courses at the University of Virginia. I like Demand Media Studios for the opportunity to write science articles. They offer a wide array of choices. Some of the articles are quite simple, while others are a challenge. The emoluments are reasonable, and the staff is very helpful and considerate. Writing for Demand Media Studios has helped me broaden my horizons and better afford retirement.

Hi. My name is Lisa Chinn, and I graduated from college with a psychology degree. I enjoy writing for Demand Media Studios, because eventually I want a career that involves a lot of research and writing. Writing for Demand Media Studios gives me good practice. The freedom of this job is also very helpful at this point in my life while I am figuring out where I want to settle down.

My name is Jasmine Carpenter. I joined Demand Media Studios in 2009. For the past two years, I have pursued a career as a freelance writer. I studied computer science in college and became interested in writing technical articles about the latest developments in computer technology. I spend a great deal of time gathering information and doing research about topics that I enjoy writing. Writing for Demand Media Studios on a weekly basis allows me to learn something new every day, and I appreciate the opportunity to work for them. Thank you Demand Media Studios.

My name is Stephanie Chandler, and I am a research scientist who left the laboratory behind to concentrate on raising my children and providing them with an exceptional education. My husband, a commercial real estate agent, has not made a paycheck in more than a year. After months of searching for a legitimate way to make money from home, I finally found Demand Media Studios. Demand Media Studios saved my family from financial disaster; I get to do two things I am passionate about: research and write, and my children still get the benefit of having their mother at home.

My name is Bailey Shoemaker Richards. I have been writing for Demand Media Studios for a year, and I spend most of my working time writing with my mom. Having her to write with helps a lot; we compare article titles, talk about ways of researching topics and offer encouragement during long days of writing. I learn a lot through writing articles, and I have a great time doing it. Working with Demand Media Studios has been a great tool for me as a college student, too. I can put money towards my tuition in addition to getting great real-world experience in publishing.
Writer and title editor Celia Emmelhainz has been chosen as the recipient of September’s $1,000 grant!

Celia’s project is a collection of essays based on her travels as an anthropologist in western Mongolia.  We chose Celia’s project because of her captivating writing sample. In addition, her application was extremely thorough, combined with a detailed timeline for completion.

We would also like to include a belated congratulations to Cathleen Calkins, our August grant recipient. An award-winning photographer, Cathleen will be producing a short film about homesteading in Alaska.

Don’t forget to submit your application for October’s grant because you could be our next winner!

We’ve read some amazing applications and would like to remind you that you can submit one project three times. The guidelines and application are in the Help section of your Resource Center. Applications for the grant are accepted from the 1st – 7th of each month.

My name is Jackie Lohrey. Because of Demand Media Studios, I am becoming a much better writer. My research skills are improving, I am finally getting over my passive voice addiction, I have more confidence, and I am learning about so many different subject areas. As I get better at this, I am producing more, making more money and having fun at the same time. It couldn't get much better than this.

I saw this video today on blog Boingboing.net and wanted to share it with you guys. Very interesting. Hope you like it.

My name is Cheryl Likins. I received my master’s degree in 1999. For years, my focus was on teaching. However, a couple of years ago, I began to think of ways to supplement my income because my online college teaching contracts began to dwindle. In 2007, I began freelance writing. Demand Media Studios is my lifeline, as I am transitioning into what appears to be the second phase of my career. What I like about freelancing for Demand Media Studios is having the latitude to research and learn about topics that interest me while improving my skills. Yes, flexibility counts, but so does reliability – something that I have missed in my career for far too long.
