Work/Life Balance Award

Writer Teresa Bergen grew up tanning in Southern California which resulted in more than her fair share of skin cancer experiences. The latest development requires Mohs surgery which is going to surpass the deductible on her health insurance. This grant will help Teresa offset the cost of her surgery. Good luck, Teresa!

Writer Stephanie Chandler and her husband recently rescued two kittens abandoned in a field near her home. Thanks to this award, the family can now help cover veterinary care and basic supplies for the newest additions to the family. How could we say no to these furry faces?

Writer Laura Oliver recently moved to New York City after finishing grad school, leaving her family behind in Alabama. While she loves writing Nutrition content for the Studio and working as a dietitian at an HIV/AIDS clinic in Queens, she does miss seeing her family. Thanks to this award, Laura can make the trip home to see them for the holidays. Happy holidays, Laura!

Copy Editor Tina Sheesley is a single mom with three boys, ages 4, 7 and 10. She recently moved to Maryland for family reasons and left her full-time job behind. She’s been working more hours with the Studio but wants to spend a little less time at her desk. Tina is going to use this award to join a gym near her house, which happens to include a play center for the kids. Have fun, Tina!

Professional Resources Grant

Writer Caryn Anderson is the primary caregiver for her elderly grandfather. Due to a recent accident resulting in a broken shoulder and shoulder blade, Caryn’s presence is essential for helping with the various aspects of his daily life. With this new laptop, Caryn can keep up with her work while also being there for her grandfather. Congratulations, Caryn!
