November Enrichment Opportunities Winners
It’s once again time to announce the winners of our Enrichment Opportunities Program for this month. Please join us in congratulating the following members of our community.
Work/Life Balance Award
Writer Mary Ylisela has had a rough few weeks including a death in the family, a totaled car, and a nephew with a broken arm. Needless to say it’s been a crazy time for her family, so Mary will be using the award money to treat the rest of the family to a day or two in Chicago. Have fun, Mary!
Writer Julie Richards and her family haven’t had a real Christmas celebration for a few years now. For the past two years, they haven’t even had the extra funds to decorate their home. But this year, Mary won’t have to choose between the bills and celebrating the season. Happy holidays to you and yours, Julie!
Senior CE Maria Rally has a passion for fighting for the rights and welfare of wildlife. Maria is in the process of launching her own advocacy website to help motivate people to do at least one thing every day to help conserve wildlife habitats. Good luck with this new project, Maria.
Writer Maggie O’Leary just returned from an extended active-duty tour as a member of the Air Force Reserve. Transitioning from full-time airman to full-time writer is no easy task. Maggie will be able to use this grant to help ease back into civilian life and purchase some resources to help improve her writing. Thank you for all you do, Maggie!
Professional Resources Grant
Writer and Expert David Lipscomb is a stay-at-home father of two. Balancing dad duties with writing is a full-time job made even more difficult when you have to constantly restore your operating system. This new laptop will help David be more efficient and still spend time with his little ones.
All-Access Pass
Writer Aubrey Kerr is this month’s recipient of the All-Access Pass. She will be suing this award to attend the Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference this coming spring in Boston. This conference brings together 10,000 writers, publishing professionals and faculty for a weekend of readings, lectures, discussion and forums. She plans to meet with independent publishers and agents while there in order to discuss a nonfiction book she recently completed. Good luck, Aubrey!
Remember, applications for all awards are accepted during the first seven days of each month. Be sure to get your December application in!
