My guilt pleasures, when I have time to do so, are astrology books, anything that has to do with hydroponics and gardening. New weight loss techniques, herbal remedies and oddly enough, recipe books and text books and almost anything that makes my life easier like books and articles on living on the positive side of life. Yeah its a lot of eclectic varieties of reading but I love to just take the chance to read whenever I can. I was always taught knowledge is power and reading helps to give us that knowledge from a very young age and I guess it just stuck with me. Something I passed onto my own children who have just recently started into their own journeys of finding the job of what they like and love to read as well.

Guilty reading pleasure? Mine is definitely young adult vampire fiction (honestly with the exception of Twilight and the Vampire Diaries--I really didn't like those). But really those fresh, new, innocent love stories that capture the first kiss and the first love get me every time. I like reliving that experience over and over again.

Every day, first thing, I read the morning DailyBeast.com Cheat Sheet newsletter. While this does cover "hard edged" news items I have to admit that I often also click on the "poor, sad pop/music/movie star" stories as well (though I do refrain from clicking on anything having to do with weddings in anticipation of the upcoming rumors and drama of the divorce).

Currently, it's young adult literature. Most recently, I just finished the "Hunger Games" trilogy. Before that "Reckless" by Cornelia Funke. Very good stories. Get lost in good reads in my opinion.

Hmmm...guilty reading pleasure? If it is a source of gossip, current actress must not wears and three headed goats, I'm there! : ) Have to admit the grocery store tabloids are my secret reads, but in public I truely enjoy a good ghost/paranormal/mystery/suspense. Currently I have been favoring Heather Graham and/or John Saul.

I read everything Stephen King, Tabitha King, Robert McCammon and Dean Koontz write. I also read most books written by James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, Jodi Picoult and Douglas Adams. I read and enjoyed the Twilight series before movies were made from the books and I liked the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. I like to read books by Joan Hess, Lloyd C. Douglas, Michael Masterson and Iris Johansen. Shoot, I just plain like to read!

I lost five consecutive days of my life to the Twilight series. I am not proud of that fact. And anytime I'm headed on a long flight I allow myself to read chick lit. (Headed to NYC next week... anyone have deliciously trashy suggestions for the flight?)

Nancy Drew. The ones from the 60's. The collection I wanted as a child but never had is almost complete now that I'm a middle-aged mother with grown kids. The books are pure, simple fun, but no one gets it so I usually keep quiet about this particular guilty pleasure. It also makes me feel like I need to justify it by pointing out all the "smart" things I read, which makes it even more guilty, don't you think?

I too lost several days of my life to reading the Twilight saga from start to finish. It was shortly after I bought my Nook, and they were all four available in ebook. The writing is less than stellar, the characters are shallow, but... I still loved them anyway.

I'm a sucker for any novel set in a ski area, probably because I wrote one myself. I'm currently reading "The Silent Land," about a couple that survives an avalanche in Chamonix, but when they return to the village, it's totally deserted.
