Oh, I get to be the first! Ok, I couldn't stay awake the night before -- kept zonking out, so I just followed my body's lead, slept and got up at my usual time. It was 6:15 or so, my time, maybe 2:30 p.m. GMT (8 hours ahead, right?) so William and Catherine were long since married. I watched the taped replays of the wedding ceremony -- and wished I had been there! Would have loved a cup of coffee with Nefertiti, Lollipop, David, Isobel or Judith!

I don't even like going to weddings of people I know! Get up at 4am to watch? No. Way.

I didn't manage to stay awake for the wedding, but caught the reruns, in spite of swearing I wasn't going to, not being a Brit or a royalist, but a dyed-in-the-wool, small "r" republican. My big question to William was: "Do you love her?" Seems he does! I actually enjoyed all the Britishisms and the unusual peeks at London via the carriage-cam, as well as the heartfelt enthusiasm of the British people, who showed up by the millions for the young couple. I wish the young marrieds well, and don't envy their fishbowl existence.

I'm British, so I felt obligated to watch. That said, no way was I getting up at 4am to watch the coverage. I recorded it on my DVR and watched it with my best friend Friday evening, along with champagne, appetizers and replica Diana engagement rings.

The idea of royalty is an ancient and out-dated concept. The resources spent on a royal wedding would have been better spent on public resources and services. The Brits make fun of Americans turning movie stars into idols; this is no different and both are a wasteful shame.

I set my alarm for 3:50 AM (and I am NOT a morning person!!) to go to an event at a local theater that was built in the 1920s. It happens to be called The Palace, and was a grand location to watch the wedding! We watched it live on the big screen, ate scones and clotted cream, and stuck around for The Kiss at 8:25! There was even a hat contest among the guests and raffle prizes for spa treatments and private parties. It was a fantastic time! I definitely enjoyed the wedding and was also sucked into the TV specials that aired all weekend. It was fun, historical, and worth it just to see the Brits wearing those fantastic hats!!

'Fraid not! Anyone could watch it on the internet for several days, and many news shows featured much of it....at a decent time.

I'm half British (on my Mum's side), so I feel somewhat connected to all the drama, especially since my daughter was born on Lady Di's birthday and she died on my son's birthday - how weird it that? However, I did not stay up, or get up early, to watch the wedding. I didn't even record it or watch it later elsewhere. I saw plenty of media coverage about it, both before and after, on the "telly" and in the papers. But, I'm happy for the royal couple; they looked very happy together. And, I'm happy the Brits have something to celebrate (They do love their "Royals"!).

Yes, I watched it. Just a reminder of who still rules the world.
