I have a crossword puzzle addiction. For years, I have been buying puzzle books and then abandoning books with two or three puzzles left in them. I save them, thinking that I will eventually get back to them. I have only done so once or twice, so this year, I recycled two full boxes of them.
I have been writing poetry and stuff since I was about 9 years old. I have never thrown away anything I have written. When I got married my husband used to leave me notes on the bathroom mirror, I have kept them all of these fifty odd years. I have kept every greeting card I have ever received from the time I was about six. I started pasting them into an album but got bored and stopped. I do not have the heart to throw away any written words sent to me or that I wrote and send to my family. I cherish those words and my feelings and thoughts and have to save them!
My sister in law suggested I try used dryer sheets for dusting. I was so amazed at how well it worked, I dusted every bookshelf, book, and picture frame in my house!
Though I come from a family of pack rats, the house I live in now is too small to keep everything I own. I will be donating books to the local library and taking boxes of clothing to Goodwill and a local shelter. I also plan to get rid of the boxes of papers filling my basement, but that task will probably carry on through the summer months.
