TED Talks: The Lost Art of Letter-Writing
When was the last time you wrote a letter? On paper? This is an older, more emotion talk from the TED series, but I think it's beautiful and I hope you like it. It's from Lakshmi Pratury about handwritten notes left to her by her father.

Lakshmi is the name for the goddess of money.

I should add that this topic is compelling when connected to a personal emotion such as this. I have never enjoyed reading my own handwriting. They say that a creative person is unable to create smooth transitions that repeat over and over again in a typography of self. I am one who agrees with that theory. I am considering trying to fill one or two pages of my notebook (Thank you Demand Media Studios) with a letter to the ones I love; I suspect it may be read one day if it's still around when I die in a hundred years. Thanks for the reminder, Francis

PS I love the Goddess of Money, forgive me for interrupting with that comment first.

Thanks for posting this great find! Pratury's short presentation inspired a blog post, as I plan to do the same for my loved ones. http://christopherdelatorre.com/2010/11/05/death-and-the-lost-art-of-letter-writing-video/

When I was sailing, I left "steamer letters" for Pat -- letters written before my departure, to keep her company when she didn't get a letter with funny stamps mailed from a port in the middle of Nowhere.
