Options for Health Insurance

Leverage the power of the Demand Studios community to access affordable health insurance

Demand Studios writers, copy editors and filmmakers who meet tenure and activity requirements can get access to three different limited medical plans. The scale of the Demand Studios network of freelancers has allowed us to negotiate plans that may represent an attractive option for many in our freelance community. Please note that these plans are not administered by Demand Studios or its affiliates, but by an independent, third-party benefits provider. Eligible freelancers will contract directly with the benefits provider in each case.

As every individual's case is different, we urge you to look closely at these optional plans to determine whether one of them is right for you and your family.

How Do I Enroll?

At the beginning of each month we will send an email to our freelancers who have just become eligible*. The email will contain an enrollment form which is to be returned directly to the program administrator. When a freelancer receives a form, he or she will have 90 days to make the decision to enroll. If a freelancer does not choose to participate within 90 days, he or she must wait until the next enrollment period. In this case, it would be December 1, 2010*.

*Subject to the program continuing to be available at this time.

Questions?

We have put together these comprehensive FAQ to answer any questions you may have.

Neither Demand Studios nor its parent company Demand Media nor any of its affiliates is sponsoring or contributing to the plan. The plan is being administered by an independent third-party benefit provider. We cannot make any warranties or guarantees about the quality, scope, or length of coverage which may be available to you if you meet eligibility requirements and enroll in the plan. The provision of access to the third-party plan should not be construed as any form of employee benefit. Members of the Demand Studios freelance community are independent contractors with Demand Media.
